Julie & Julia (2009) 118 minutes

Here is a film by Nora Ephron about two women who never met, who lived decades apart, but were connected through their love of exquisite cooking.

Amy Adams plays Julie Powell, a disenchanted New York office worker who sets out to write a blog covering 542 of Julia Child’s recipes over the course of 365 days.

Meryl Streep plays the iconic Julia Child, depicted in flashbacks from 1950’s France and 1960’s Cambridge before she was the famed chef, writer, and television personality. Here is where the film shines, especially with Stanley Tucci as her husband Paul, a diplomat whose urbane persona effortlessly complements Julia’s joyous efforts to become a Cordon Bleu chef.

BE ADVISED- This film is rated PG-13, with smoking, drinking, profanity, sexuality, Eisenhower-era political bullying and copious amounts of better.
