BELFAST 2021, 98 minutes

Directed by Kenneth Branagh and based his own childhood experiences in 1969 Northern Ireland, this film chronicles a working-class Protestant family as seen through the eyes of Buddy, a nine-year-old boy. With his parents trying to make ends meet and not to get caught up in the escalating strife, Buddy feels the pressure to “take a side” while at same time befriending a Catholic girl. With solid performances from Jamie Dornan, Caitríona Balfe, Judi Dench, and Jude Hill as young Buddy, Belfast is both heartbreaking and inspiring as it depicts people trying holding on to their better angels amidst snowballing hatred.

BE ADVISED–– This film is rated PG-13, with smoking, drinking, profanity, sexual innuendo, and all the violence and mayhem connected to the Troubles.
