Wednesday, September 136:00—7:30 PMWeston AICWeston Art and Innovation Center356 Boston Post Road, Weston, MA, 02493
This is a two-part crash course in 3D modeling with Tinkercad.
Tinkercad is widely considered the most beginner-friendly 3D modeling software out there. And it’s free for anyone to use!
If you love 3D printing and want to learn how to build or customize projects, Tinkercad is a great place to start:
- Become familiar with the terminology.
- Become familiar with the workflow of building a 3-dimensional object that can then be 3D printed.
Class 1:
- Introduction to the software and how to build and manipulate objects.
- Follow along as the instructor walks through an example, step-by-step, of creating a simple 3D part.
- Set up a free account with Tinkercad so that you can practice at home between lessons.
Class 2:
- Review the basics from Class 1.
- Choose a simple object to replicate.
- Discuss strategies for 3D modeling, as well as strengths and limitations of this software.
- Time permitting, start a 3D print of what you modeled.
Prerequisite: Basic computer skills; if you’re not sure about your computer skills, we recommend signing up for a free session at the Weston Public Library -- click on this link to make an appointment.
