Weston AIC: Indian Folk Art Series (This is the first session of a 4-session series)

Being culturally diverse and distinct, India has many folk art forms from different regions. This class introduces participants to some of these ancient and traditional folk art forms of India, including: 

  • Madhubani Art
  • Gond Art 
  • Kalamkari Art

These folk art forms are known for their striking geometric patterns, floral designs and use of bright vivid colors. Participants learn foundational patterns of each folk art form and create two paintings of each form to take home, such as “Tree of Life” from Madhubani Art, “Deer” from Gond Art , and “Peacock” from Kalamkari Art.
