Rhoda Cohen has been creating quilt art for more than 50 years. Like many quilt makers, she started as a painter, having first studied a variety of art disciplines. Once introduced to quilt making, with its resonance, intimacy, and tactility, fabric took the place of all other art forms. Rhoda’s works are part of private and public collections around the world, including, locally, the Children’s Room in the Weston Public Library and the New England Quilt Museum in Lowell. She has taught workshops nationally and internationally for many years, and her work is published in more than 20 books and an array of periodicals. At 90, Rhoda still enjoys creating in her barn-studio tucked in the woods in Weston. There she says that she “can work steadily or sporadically, day or night. There is a spirit in the place.”
