Music Concert with Pianist Roman Rudnytsky

Sunday, May 14, 2023 at 3 p.m. Concert Pianist Roman Rudnytsky. Library concert audiences who attended Roman Rudnytsky’s recital in 2019 will remember his accomplished playing and the fascinating commentary that accompanied his pieces. This year, he will play Chopin’s Krakowiak, opus 14; Ravel’s Ma Mere l’Oye (Mother Goose Suite); and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor, opus 37. In addition, he will play Hutzul Dance, a piece composed by his father Antin Ridnytsky. It is based on several themes of the Hutzuls, a mountain people living in the Carpathian Mountains in far western Ukraine, known throughout the country for their colorful dances, costumes, and wood-inlay items.

A Professor Emeritus at Youngstown (OH) State University’s Dana School of Music, Roman has played concerts in 100 countries around the world and on many cruise ships. He has been a prizewinner in international and national piano competitions. After his Weston Library recital, he will fly to Hamburg in order to join Cunard's Queen Mary 2 for a westward crossing to New York via Southampton, during which he will play four recitals.

This in-person concert is free and open to the public, and the Community Room is handicapped accessible. Covid precautions will be observed; masks are encouraged.
