John Pacheco

The resolution of unexpected harmonies of color within the rhythms of marks has kept me occupied with abstraction for the past several decades. Some of the titles are meant to evoke a narrative.

Born on July 17, 1949, in Cambridge, MA, John is the second of five children of Vincenzia Giglio, housewife, and John James Pacheco, technical illustrator and painter. He was educated at Yale U., B.A., studio art, where he studied with William Bailey, and Boston U., MFA, painting, studying with James Weeks and Philip Guston.

From 1980 to 2015, he was professor of art at Mount Wachusett Community College, Gardner MA, as well as the director of its East Wing Gallery for 11 years. He is now an adjunct professor at the college.

John is married and has six children. He maintains studios in both Washington, D.C. and Gardner MA.
