Erika Reitshamer will present Jacques Offenbach's The Tales of Hoffman.
The opera is a genuine French grand opéra fantastique with a large-scale cast, spectacular design and stage effects. It is Offenbach's only serious opera. The work deals with three of Hoffmann's great loves of his life. DVD cast: Vittorio Grigólo, Sonya Yoncheva.
Erika Reitshamer is returning to Weston Public Library. Born and educated in Germany, she has lectured on opera for many years in the greater Boston area. She was active in the formation of the Boston Lyric Opera Company, led opera tours to Europe, and served as VP of the Boston Wagner Society. She taught opera appreciation for Lifelong Learning at Regis College for 9 years and now lectures at libraries, social service organizations, and retirement communities.
