Lizzie Abelson was born and raised in Suffield, CT. She studied painting at the Rhode Island School of Design, and spent her junior year abroad with RISD’s European Honors Program. Currently, she lives in Boylston, MA.

Lizzie’s artistic focus has shifted over the years, from figurative painting to botanical illustration to intimate landscapes. Her most recent paintings depict spaces that feel at once familiar and foreign. Occasionally, a piece will drift off into abstraction. She is attracted to liminality, quiet colors, strong compositional elements, and balanced arrangements that invite the viewer in, but also evoke a subtle sense of mystery, unease, or aloneness. Wanderlust and day-dreamy escapism swirl in tandem, as a constant undercurrent.
