The Continental Divide, also called the Great Divide, is a mountain ridge in western North America. Most of the Divide runs along the Rocky Mountains. It runs along the border between British Columbia and Alberta in Canada, and through the states of Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico in the United States. The central point is the state of Colorado, where the divide is made up of many peaks above 13,000 feet (3,962 meters). The divide continues southward into Mexico and Central America.

On April 21, Jim Klumpp left the Mexican border and started walking north through the Chihuahuan Desert in New Mexico's bootheel. His goal was to hike the length of the Continental Divide Trail and reach Canada in four - five months, thereby completing the Triple Crown of long-distance hiking. He had previously hiked the Appalachian and Pacific Crest Trails in 2014 and 2018, respectively. Jim will share his adventure with you through pictures he took during his 135-day hike.
