Author Carolyn Campbell will speak about her new book, City of Immortals, which celebrates Pere-Lachaise, the world-renowned cemetery against the backdrop of the engrossing story of its history as the very first municipal cemetery and the model for all garden-style cemeteries in North America and Europe. 

The park's past unfolds in chapters that recount the architectural and sculptural significance of tombs; the artisans of the day who created them; a survey of funereal symbols and their interpretations, and three illustrated tours describing the lives, deaths, funerals, and tombs of 84 legendary artists, writers and musicians who now rest in Pere-Lachaise. 

Ms. Campbell's book was named #2 on the Los Angeles Times Bestseller List for Non-Fiction and is now in its second printing.
